This is the main part of the app. It’s where you go to get help on a conversation you’re stuck on, but is it any good? I fed some of my real-life conversations into it to find out. On the left, you will see what PlugAI said, and on the right, you will see what I wound up saying instead.

As you can see, the responses Plug AI gives are repetitive. There are two suggestions here. The surprise one is probably not a good idea, because it doesn’t actually move the conversation forward and establish solid plans. The tacos one is also not that great, saying “spill all the tea” doesn’t really make sense given the context

On the right, you can see the text I used instead, which wound up working a lot better. Now let’s take a look at a slightly more difficult situation from the same convo.

So the context here is I have plans with this girl, and day of the date, she stops responding. The suggestions Plug AI gives simply make no sense. You can see on the right, the text I wound up sending instead, which worked much better

It seems that Plug AI is so-so in easy situations and completely breaks down when things get more difficult.

2) Gimme a pickup line

This is the second feature. I was a bit confused initially, cause I didn’t see the place where I could upload the girl’s profile. Turns out there isn’t one. This doesn’t give you custom openers based on a girl’s profile (Like FireTexts does), but just random pickup lines. Here are two examples:

Yeah, pretty cringe. These pickup lines are extremely corny. This feature, in my opinion, is completely useless. You can find a million generic pickup lines on Google and Reddit, most of which will be a lot better than this.

What they needed to do was allow you to upload screenshots of a girl’s profile so the AI can come up with a custom opener. 3) Chat with PlugAI

This is where you go to ask Plug AI general questions about dating. It follows a similar format as ChatGPT. I tried this feature out by asking it some basic questions about dating, as you can see below:

Your options are either very generic advice, which is almost memeable as you see on the left, “just be confident bro”. Or politically correct mumbo jumble as you see on the right. Even ChatGPT is not this PC anymore.

After testing Plug AI, it’s clear that while it’s popular, it struggles in a few key areas compared to other AI texting assistants.

The biggest issue is context awareness. A lot of the responses feel generic or slightly off, especially in more nuanced conversations.

While I may be a bit biased, it is my true opinion that Plug AI is NOT worth your time, energy, and money. The pickup line feature is completely useless, and even if you want to send random pickup lines, there are much better options for free on the Internet.

The chat with AI feature is also useless because it is either overly vague or way too politically correct. The only feature that has a shred of utility is the one that helps you respond to texts. However, as we saw, the responses it gives are mediocre at best and autistic at worst.
